Bone RFA

Our radiology team performed a bone ablation: a CT-guided radiofrequency treatment for a painful benign bone tumour.

A young athlete came to our interventional radiology clinic with leg pain. Imaging showed an osteoid osteoma, a small but painful benign bone tumour.

Our interventional radiology team performed CT-guided radiofrequency ablation under spinal anaesthesia. The patient was discharged the same day.

At follow-up she was pain-free and no longer needed medication.

This was the first bone ablation procedure in our radiology department. We provide image-guided treatment for a range of musculoskeletal conditions, delivered by our radiologists as part of a multidisciplinary team.
